Following the decision of the International Press Institute (IPI) Executive Board (VIENNA, August 2 2010), to appoint IPI Deputy Director Alison Bethel McKENZIE an Interim Director following the decision by Director David DADGE to step down in pursuit of new opportunities; Mazen ABBOUD, a Lebanese free lance Journalist & a IPI member, said to the Lebanese National Agency (NNA) this morning that former director David DADGE is indeed a valiant warrior for press freedom and freedom of expression, who worked to strengthen IPI presence in Lebanon & the Middle East.
ABBOUD recognized the role of DADGE who headed a special IPI commission to the Lebanon in fall 2009; & issued a special report on the state of press freedom in it, an "important analytical document that describes the structural problems of the press sector in the country" as he described it. Finally, he wished the new director, success in her new job.
